Whether you’re new to our school or a longtime Golden Bear family, we want to provide the resources you need to achieve success.

This is a central hub for students and families to easily access information for navigating the school and school day, including enrollment, student handbooks, information about schedules, extra curricular activities, and more!

Enrollment

Vine Middle Magnet School serves students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

Students who are zoned for Vine Middle Magnet School and attended a Knox County elementary school for 5th grade are automatically enrolled. Students who are not zoned for Vine can apply for a transfer.

Enrollment hours for students who are new to the district are from 8:00 a.m. until 2 p.m. on full school days and during specified office hours in the summer months. Enrollment must be completed in person by a parent or legal guardian.

Daily Schedule

At Vine, the standard school day begins at 8:30 a.m., but students may begin arriving on campus as early as 7:30 a.m. Upon arrival, students should report to the cafeteria for breakfast or to the auditorium. At 8:00 a.m., they are dismissed to their homeroom.

To be counted present for the day, children must attend school for at least 3.5 hours.

Dismissal begins at 3:30 p.m. All students must be picked up by 4:00 p.m. Students who remain on campus after that time will be escorted back inside the building.

Academics

Vine is a STEAM Magnet School. We integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math into all areas of learning, using hands-on projects that connect these subjects together in real world situations.

Additionally, Vine Middle Magnet School is a Candidate School for the Middle Years Program (MYP). This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

The entire staff of Vine Middle Magnet School is committed to establishing an atmosphere in which children will feel safe, secure, and happy so they maximize their opportunities to learn and achieve. The school has trained counselors and social workers on staff.

Athletics, Clubs, and Arts

Vine Middle Magnet School offers a variety of after-school and extracurricular activities—including athletics, performing arts, visual arts, and —that give students the chance to build new skills, connect with peers, and explore personal interests.

Different from high school, middle school athletics includes both school-sponsored teams and community-based programs.

Library / Media Center

Our library is a hub for student learning, reading, and discovery. In addition to the school library, teachers may maintain individual collections of age-appropriate books in their classrooms to support literacy and foster a love of reading.

Support Organization

The Vine Volunteer Collective and Site Steering Committee work to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging families and the community in supporting school activities. Together, these groups enhance academic and extracurricular programs, provide resources for students and staff, and foster a positive, engaged school community.
